The maximum height (or thickness) that can be cut with a resaw is called the resaw capacity. If you are a small furniture maker, 14 inches is the minimum size for a bandsaw. 16 inches is more ideal. If your machine isn't cutting straight, check the guides. The rear guide should not touch the blade when it isn't cutting. This can force the blade out of its natural position on blade wheels, which can lead to poor quality cuts.
