This allows it to have a higher power density. This allows the fiber not only to cut faster but also to pierce much faster. The fiber's smaller beam size allows it to cut intricate shapes, and leave sharp edges. Imagine cutting the logo of your company from a tube where the spacing between the letters is 0.035inches. A fiber can achieve that cut while a laser with CO2 cannot.

Fiber lasers have a wavelength of 1.06 microns, which is 10 percent smaller than that of a CO2 laser beam. With its much smaller wavelength, the fiber laser produces a beam that is much more easily absorbed by the reflective material; a CO2 laser is much more likely to reflect off the surface of these materials. Because of this, fiber laser cutting machines can cut brass, copper, and other reflective materials. It should be noted that a CO2 laser beam that reflects off the material can not only damage the machine’s cutting lens, but also the entire beam path. Using a fiber-optic cable for the beam path removes this risk.

Be aware that there is no perfect tub. They may have bows. You may find weld seams on both the outside and the inside of the tube. When there are inconsistencies between product runs, it can be a challenge to process the material efficiently and consistently.

With a laser tube-cutting machine, there are no standard towers. Bundle loads are the most efficient method for handling tubes. These loaders feed one tube per bundle into the tube cutter via a singularizing mechanism. This feeding method is not compatible with open profiles such as angles or channels. Because they interlock within a bundle, and don't allow for easy release, this type of feeding doesn't work. Step loaders are employed for open profiles. These machines sequence one section at a time and maintain the correct orientation.
